How long does it take to complete a level on the FLP programme?
The programme is entirely self-directed, so you can complete it at whatever pace you prefer.
Typically, a CIMA level takes around 75–125 hours to complete the course content and case study preparation takes an additional 25–35 hours.
When is the best time to start my FLP subscription?
The best months to start your FLP subscription are March, June, September, and December. Spot the pattern? Each of these months are directly after a CIMA Case Study exam sitting.
But why does that matter?
Starting your subscription in one of these key months gives you the best possible runway to plan and prepare. Case Study Exams happen every three months, so enrolling at the right time ensures you have sufficient time to work through the syllabus and aim for the next sitting.
That’s especially important if you need to retake an exam, as you won’t have to wait long before trying again.
Even if you're on a longer subscription, aligning with these dates helps you structure your studies more strategically and avoid long gaps between exam opportunities.
Can I complete two levels on a one-year subscription?
Yes, you can. There will be enough exam sittings for you to be able to sit an exam and allow for a re-sit for two levels on a one-year subscription if you join an ideal start date (March, June, September, and December).
What happens if my subscription expires, but I haven't passed my case study exam yet and I still have exam tokens left?
The exam credits expire with your subscription, but if you renew your subscription, new credits are provided. You get new exam credits for the exam level that you have yet to complete on the new subscription.
If a student on a 1 year subscription, uses both credits and fails OCS twice, then renews to a new 1 year subscription, the student is able to use the new credits to re-sit the OCS two more times.
Are there financing options available for FLP?
Yes! We've partnered with Student Hero, South Africa's largest student finance facilitation service. Find and compare offers from all of South Africa's major student finance providers - all on one platform. Read more about them here.
