Enrolling for an NQF accredited National Diploma is a fantastic way to further your career, sharpen your skills, and broaden your horizons in the job market.
We’ve already covered the benefits that come with completing a National Diploma, but how exactly are the courses structured? Here’s everything you need to know.
National Diploma Course Structure
National Diplomas are broken down into two sections - theory and practical. Each section can be completed in 18 months. Here is a breakdown of what each section entails;
National Diploma Theory Section
Each NQF 6 National Diploma consists of 3 different levels - N4, N5, and N6.
Each level contains 4 subjects, also known as modules. You will be required to complete assignments and an exam for each subject. Once you have completed all the subjects in a level, you will be able to move on to the next level. Some subjects are compulsory, while others are elective - meaning that you can choose which topics you’d like to focus on and specialise in.
You can complete all 3 levels levels in 18 months.
National Diploma Practical Section
Once you have completed the theory section, you will need to complete 18 months of practical work experience in order to qualify and receive your NQF 6 National Diploma. The great news is that you could have already completed your relevant work experience before, or during your studies.
