Before you get started with your studies, you will need to register with CIMA.
If you have an existing finance, accounting or business qualification you may want to apply for exemptions.
CIMA Exemptions will allow you to fast track your journey to becoming a qualified CGMA if you have gathered relevant past experience from a previous qualification or work experience.
Getting started is as easy as A, B, C, and we will be there with you very step of the way.
Exemption advice before getting started
Do you want to know which subject you might be exempted from BEFORE you even register with CIMA? Then send us your qualification certificate and transcripts to [email protected] to ask for ‘exemption assist’.
How does it work if my employer is paying?
It doesn’t really matter who’s paying. However, we can only register you as a student and apply for exemptions once we’ve received your payment. Registration is pretty much immediate (meaning you’ll get your CIMA contact ID instantly), but it will take a couple of days for your registration fee to reflect on your account. You can pay your registration fee to CIMA directly or use IBTC to pay it on your behalf.
I don't want to apply for exemptions, can you still register me with CIMA?
Yes, that’s easy enough. We can register you with CIMA and you can then use IBTC to pay over your CIMA registration fee or you can choose to pay it over yourself. Whichever is easier for you.
What happens if I don't receive my exemptions before classes start?
We advise students to apply for exemptions at least one month before the start of classes. It sometimes happens that you are exempted from a subject which you’re already busy attending. Once you’ve started using the books, our online Platform and you’ve attended classes, we cannot refund you or move you to a different class. We recommend that you attend class without the books or the online Platform while you’re waiting for your exemptions, because then it’s easy for us to move you over to another subject.
Can you register me for my exams as well?
Yes, we would be happy to register you for your exam if you use IBTC to pay over your exam fees. We recommend, however, that you register for your exam yourself to avoid IBTC making any admin errors and messing up your exam plans. If you book your own exam, it will also be easier for you to change the exam date at a later stage if that becomes necessary.
