CIMA's Finance Leadership Programme (FLP) is finally back and once again available to South African students. There are a few important changes and updates that you need to know about.

Let’s start from the beginning;

What is FLP?

The FLP programme is the latest pathway to completing the CIMA qualification. The entire course takes place on CIMA’s dedicated online FLP Learning Platform. Objective Tests have been replaced by Continuous Assessments as you work your way through the course content, and students will only need to complete the Case Study Exams at each level. Completing the FLP programme awards students with the same qualifications as the traditional route. The exact same syllabus and competencies are covered on both routes.

Why were FLP sales suspended?

Sales of the FLP programme were put on hold pending the outcome of an investigation by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). We are extremely pleased to announce that both SAQA and QCTO agreed that the Finance Leadership Program may be offered and sold in South Africa. FLP programmes may only be sold by QCTO CIMA accredited tuition providers such as IBTC.

What has changed?

An exciting new change is that now anybody can start the FLP programme. Previously, the programme was only available to existing CIMA students from the Operational Level, or new students that already held a finance-related qualification. FLP is now available from Certificate Level to all those looking to start their journey towards becoming a qualification CGMA, regardless of their current experience or prior qualifications.

We also have partnered with Capitec Education Finance to help our students finance their FLP tuition fees.  With an easy application process, you could get up to R500 000 in education finance at a discounted fixed interest rate and up to 84 months to pay.  Find out more here.
