We look at the basic principles of food management for the young child, including nutritional requirements, ration scales, menu planning, specialised feeding, seating , serving, hygiene and stock control. We also cover financial management, managerial functions, dealing with health and safety needs of young children, aids to management, registration and subsidies, office documentation and filing, as well as the value and means of parent involvement.
Exams are conducted by the Department of Education in June and November. Exam entry cut off dates are 01 Mar (for June exam) and 01 Sept (for Nov exam). You are required to have an ICASS mark prior to entering for the exam. The ICASS mark is derived from the assessments you do on the IBTC course during your studies. One exam sit at an IBTC exam centre is included in your course fee and utilised once you've entered for an exam.
TO QUALIFY
To qualify for your Pass Assured Promise, you need to have submitted all your assessments for marking before the cut-off date relevant to the exam you have written and have achieved at least a 40% ICASS mark. You should also have requested and attempted one past exam paper and have sat your final exam within 6 months of having received your study material.
OUR PROMISE
If you are unsuccessful in your exam, you will receive 6 months of additional tutor support. Your ICASS mark will be re-submitted to DHET.
