What is the IBTC Data Centre Academy?
The IBTC Data Centre Academy is an industry-led training-to-employment programme designed to build a pipeline of certified, work-ready data centre professionals. It combines structured training, global certifications, and real-world data centre exposure.
Who is this programme for?
This programme is designed for:
- Data centre operators
- Infrastructure providers
- Technology companies
- Investors or funders looking to support skills development
Any organisation that needs access to skilled data centre talent can participate.
How does the partnership model work?
Partners can:
- Sponsor candidates through the programme
- Nominate their own candidates or select from IBTC’s pool
- Provide access to facilities for internships (optional but recommended)
- Assess candidates during the internship before making hiring decisions
IBTC manages the full training, certification, and programme delivery.
What makes this different from traditional hiring or internal training?
Traditional hiring relies on limited available talent. Internal academies require time and often retain talent internally.
This model expands access to talent across the market and allows you to assess candidates in a real-world environment before hiring — reducing risk and improving hiring outcomes.
What certifications do candidates receive?
Candidates complete:
- Schneider Electric Data Centre certification (DCCA I)
- EPI (EXIN-accredited) certification (DCCA II)
This results in dual certification aligned to global standards.
Do candidates get real-world experience?
Yes. The programme includes structured exposure to real data centre environments, including a 3-week on-site internship during the advanced phase.
This ensures candidates are not just qualified, but work-ready.
Can we nominate our own candidates?
Yes. You can nominate existing employees, graduates, or new hires to go through the programme.
Alternatively, IBTC can source and screen candidates on your behalf.
Are we required to host internships?
No, but it is strongly recommended.
Hosting internships allows you to assess candidates in your own environment and significantly improves hiring outcomes.
What happens after the internship?
You have the option to:
- Hire candidates into full-time roles
- Extend assessment if needed
- Engage future cohorts based on your hiring needs
There is no obligation to hire, but most partners use the internship as a recruitment pipeline.
What does IBTC handle?
IBTC manages:
- Candidate sourcing and screening (if required)
- Training delivery and academic support
- Certification preparation
- Programme management and quality assurance
- Internship structure and tracking
What is the cost?
The current introductory investment is $1,300 per candidate.
How do we get started?
You can:
- Discuss your hiring needs with our team
- Decide whether to nominate candidates or source through IBTC
- Align on timelines and cohort start dates
From there, IBTC manages the rollout.
