You’ve spent weeks preparing yourself for the big day. You’ve memorised every detail of the Pre-Seen and eaten question practice for breakfast. The day is finally here. You wake up early, write your Case Study Exam - and then what?
It takes roughly 8 weeks to receive your results from CIMA. This can often feel like an awkward limbo period, leaving you unsure of how best to use your time. Do you continue with your course and hope for the best? Or do you wait until you receive your marks before planning your next step?
Here are some tips on how to use this time effectively;
Take Your Mind Off Results Day
‘A watched kettle never boils’ - this rings true when it comes to waiting for exam results. The 8 weeks between writing your CIMA Case Study Exam and Results Day can feel like an eternity.
This wait can then become compounded by feelings of anxiety, stress, and the unknown. We are quick to automatically assume the worst, and this can quickly turn into two months of stress and panic.
Creating a positive inner dialogue is the first step. You put in the hours to prepare, be confident that your results will bear the fruits of that labour.
Get Started on Your Next Subject
8 weeks is the perfect amount of time to get started on your next OT subject. If you’ve just written the Operational Case Study, why not use this time to start preparing for your F2 exam? You are already in a learning mindset, and getting into this habit will help you shave months off of your course completion time.
Once you receive your exam results, you can go ahead and book the next OT exam right away.
'But, what if it turns out that I failed the Case Study Exam?’
The learnings gained in preparing for that next OT subject will only help you have a better shot at passing the Case Study Exam the second time around, as CIMA’s syllabus content is applicable at all levels throughout the course.
Knowledge is power, and time spent learning is never wasted.
Success Breeds More Success
Never underestimate the confidence gained from your own success. If you have spent the last 8 weeks prepping for that next Objective Test AND it turns out you passed the Case Study Exam, you can use this momentum to go into your next OT exam full of positivity and confidence in your capabilities.
