If you're starting your CIMA journey, one of the first things you'll need to do is create your account on the AICPA & CIMA website. This account is where you'll manage your registration, access your details, and find your CIMA account number, which you'll need throughout your studies.

The process only takes a few minutes, and we've broken it down into ten simple steps.

 

Before You Begin

Before creating your account, choose an email address you'll be able to access for years to come.

We recommend using a personal Gmail account rather than your work email. Your work email may change if you change jobs, but your CIMA account will stay with you throughout your professional journey.

You'll also need access to this inbox immediately, as CIMA will send you a verification email during registration.

 

Step 1: Visit the AICPA & CIMA Website

Go to the AICPA & CIMA website and click 'Register' in the top-right corner of the homepage.

 

Step 2: Complete the Registration Form

Enter your email address and complete the required fields.

You may also be asked whether you're registering as a CPA. If you see this question, simply select No, as CPA refers to a different American accounting qualification.

 

Step 3: Verify Your Email Address

Once you've submitted your details, CIMA will send a verification email to the address you provided.

Open the email and click the verification link. If you can't click the link, you can choose to enter the verification code manually instead.

 

Step 4: Sign In

After verifying your email, you'll automatically be signed in.

If you're returned to the homepage, simply log in using the email address and password you just created.

 

Step 5: Select Your Interests

CIMA will ask you to choose:

  • At least three topics you're interested in
  • At least three industries that interest you

These selections simply personalise your experience and won't affect your studies.

 

Step 6: Skip the Skills Section

When you reach the Skills page, simply click Skip this step.

This section isn't required to complete your registration.

 

Step 7: Confirm You're Logged In

Once you've finished, your name should appear in the top-right corner of the website.

This confirms your account has been created successfully.

 

Step 8: Open Your Profile Menu

Click the drop-down arrow next to your name to open your account menu.

From here, select Profile.

 

Step 9: Go to Your Personal Details

Within your profile, select:

My Personal Information → My Personal Details

This is where you'll find your CIMA account information.

 

Step 10: Find Your CIMA Account Number

Scroll down the page until you see your Account Number.

Make a note of this number somewhere safe. You'll need it when:

  • Registering with an approved tuition provider
  • Contacting CIMA support
  • Booking exams
  • Managing your student membership

Q: How long does registration take?

A: Most students complete the process in less than 10 minutes.

 

Q: Can I use my work email?

A: You can, but we strongly recommend using a personal email address that you'll always have access to.

 

Q: What if I don't receive the verification email?

A: Check your spam or junk folder first. If it's still not there, request another verification email from the sign-up page.

 

Q: Where can I find my CIMA account number?

A: After logging in, go to Profile → My Personal Information → My Personal Details and scroll down until you see your account number.
