The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) offers a streamlined pathway for finance professionals aspiring to become Chartered Accountants in South Africa. Thanks to an agreement between CIMA and the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), CIMA members can fast-track their qualification to become a CA(SA) by only writing the SAICA Board 2 (Assessment of Professional Competence) exam.

This exemption from the first board exam significantly reduces the time and effort required to attain the prestigious CA(SA) designation. As a globally recognised qualification, CIMA equips professionals with strategic financial management, business acumen, and performance management skills, ensuring CIMA members are well-prepared for SAICA's competency framework.

To be eligible, CIMA members must meet SAICA’s requirements, which include relevant practical experience and an undergraduate degree in finance.
